About Sublime Pantry

What this is
Sublime Pantry is a home freeze-drying publication. It exists for two overlapping groups: people who want every batch to come out right, and cottage sellers turning a freeze dryer into a small, legal, profitable food business. The name comes from sublimation — the physical process at the heart of freeze-drying, where ice turns directly into vapor under vacuum without ever becoming liquid.
How a page gets made
Criteria are stated before the comparison, not after it. Every figure is drawn from manufacturer documentation, government data, or university extension publications, and each source carries the date it was accessed. Where sources conflict, the page says which one it followed and why. Where a number does not exist, the page records it as absent rather than filling the gap.
Research is AI-assisted. Every published page is read, checked against its sources, and approved by a human editor before it goes live. Our editorial standards set out how sources are chosen and how AI is used; review methodology covers how comparisons are built.

What we will not claim
Sublime Pantry has not bench-tested any freeze dryer. Comparisons here are specification and documentation comparisons, and they say so wherever judgment is involved. Nothing on this site is presented as a measurement we took, and no product is reviewed on the basis of experience we do not have.
How claims stay current
Prices and specifications move. Every comparison carries the date its figures were last verified and a scheduled next check 90 days later, both printed on the page rather than held internally. Corrections are logged publicly with what changed and when, on the corrections page.
What we cover
Six things, deliberately narrow: machine decisions, batch troubleshooting, food-specific drying knowledge, storage and packaging, and the economics and rules of selling freeze-dried food from home.
How this site makes money
Packaging is one of the decisions a reader faces after a batch, so we sell packaging: mylar bags, oxygen absorbers, a bag sealer, and complete sets. Every item is assembled from our own wholesale stock and shipped by us. When a product we sell appears in a guide or comparison it is labeled "Sold by Sublime Pantry" next to the mention, not only here. We have no affiliate relationships, sponsorships, or paid placements as of September 8, 2026. See our affiliate disclosure.
Ownership
Sublime Pantry is an independent publication. Where it sells a product that also appears in a comparison, that ownership is disclosed on the comparison itself, next to the mention — not buried on a policy page.
